I'm saying this as someone who, like aerocontrols, didn't vote for either candidate.
If the lesson learned from this election is that half or more of America is comprised of uneducated misogynistic racists, then you're learning the wrong lesson. That's the cheap and self-aggrandizing takeaway, as it implies the blue side is blameless and there was nothing they could have done better.
Here's a thought or two. If you are going to force a sitting President to end his campaign, don't replace him with someone who never won a primary, even when trying to do so. Don't arbitrarily choose someone who had the lowest approval rating of any VP in history two weeks before the Biden coup.
If you want to win in 2028, nominate someone like Shapiro or Fetterman, someone who doesn't despise working class voters without a college education. Someone who truly is a centrist, not someone faking centrism to try and curry favor. Do something to shed the baggage of being perceived as the party of the coastal elite, even if you foolishly continue to be proud of that.
Kamala Harris ran one of the worst campaigns I've ever seen, and that includes McGovern and Mondale. But it is just so much easier to throw up your hands and claim racism, misogyny and fascism, amirite?
