I couldn't have said it better. I may be conservative, but as you pointed out, my choices in entertainment don't need to correspond to my views to be enjoyable. I don't detest the WOT and ROP shows because they are "woke" or because they deviate from canon. I hate them because the changes are stupid and clumsily written.
As for the over use of the "w" word, I am in total agreement with Bill Burr in the link below.
