If your primary focus isn't on telling a compelling story or creating believable characters with depth, but haranguing the audience with your viewpoint and making sure the characters outwardly bear the physical characteristics you want to highlight, you automatically ruin the movie or show.
I want to point out that there are multiple shows that manage to have the "diversity" that people are looking for, but they still succeed because that wasn't the goal, it was a side effect.
The problem now, though, is that there are entire creative departments that were hired based on DEI and ideological goals, and so they by definition aren't the best, just the most "suitable".
