I understand they said that it was from "40,000 women of color" but there have been rampant accusations of "smurfing" there and it's almost certain that the money came from a few large donors. I don't think there's much enthusiasm for Harris anywhere and this is artificially generated to put the best face on a bad hand that the Dems have right now.
Either way, I think she is their sacrifice this year, their McCain-Palin ticket, so to speak.
