View original postwould have the most seats in the French national assembly right now. But they don't. Instead they are third. Popular votes are not the only thing that matter and many nations have their own idiosyncrasies. The US is not alone.
Yes, under a better system, RN would have more seats than it has now - I have no problem with that. By the way, the situation in the UK is far more obscene still, with Labour having less than 24 000 votes per seat, whereas Reform has over 800 000 votes per seat and the Greens also more than 400 000.
Though FPTP is a problem of parliamentary/congressional elections, not presidential ones, so it doesn't seem that relevant here?
Anyway, I'm not saying that the presidential election in the US should just be decided by popular vote and that's it. What I am saying is that some Americans being completely disenfranchised is really not okay, that the Senate and the 'one vote per state' thing in the House for electoral college ties are just too disproportionate, and that whatever the electoral system may be, it's always noteworthy and a reason for concern if it conflicts with the popular vote. Especially if it conflicts repeatedly in the same direction.
