But yeah, it's not for me either, same thing as with podcasts: I don't want to listen to texts when I could just be reading them instead. Not unless it's poetry (read by a good reader), good debate (i.e. not the political kind), or other speech that really gains a lot from being heard out loud.

Agreed. There are some sources I love who insist on sharing info via podcast format. I hate it! At least give me a transcript to quickly read. Many times, I just have to skip it.
