That was just one of the phrases used by Special Counsel Robert K. Hur to describe President Biden's testimony in the investigation into his handling of classified documents.
Here are some others:
“diminished faculties in advancing age”
“It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him — by then a former president well into his 80s — of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness,”
“He did not remember when he was vice president, forgetting on the first day of the interview when his term ended (‘if it was 2013 — when did I stop being vice president?’), and forgetting on the second day of the interview when his term began (‘in 2009, am I still vice president?’),” the report said. “He did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died.”
The fact that Biden is well known for his malapropism is nothing new. But these are not a collection of snippets across multiple events over a number of years. These are from 5 hours of recorded testimony that took place over two days in October 2023.
This from the response from Biden's lawyers:
“It is hardly fair to concede that the president would be asked about events years in the past, press him to give his ‘best’ recollections and then fault him for his limited memory,” the lawyers wrote. “The president’s inability to recall dates or details of events that happened years ago is neither surprising nor unusual.”
Ummm, really? The year his son died? The terms of his Vice Presidency? No biggee, huh?
I have a feeling that the next few months could become very interesting. What happens if both candidates are precluded from running? (we should be so lucky)
