And while it is a good back and forth, I do not recommend it to many, even though I recommend it for some.
Civilization and being human (something they cover, but I am expanding it here), is holding many ideas and truths all at once, and learning repression and turn taking in order to balance them all. There is a madness inherent in civilization and also in anarchy, war and other words go here.
When everything is going well we call it Loyalty, things are getting better and passive participation produces the results. (I am using the Albert O. Hirschman EVLN model here). Loyalty is not free though, there is always sacrifice and a form of alchemy where that sacrifice transforms the person and the larger community.
But when this passive forces produce bad results this is not Loyalty, it is Neglect even if we pretend and call it Loyalty. Neglect was Hirschmans big fear, but all 4 have problems in my opinion.
Now Voice and Exit are active forces not passive, and Hirschman means far more things by Voice than literal Voice. Voice it too has problems for too much voices is a cacophony of noise. Too many things can not go together, there are household management trade offs and thinking everything goes together is Utopic nonsense.
Exit is always an option, but it too has sacrifices built into it.

My point here is sometimes there are no good options, only worse and inhuman / monstrous ones. Feeling alienated happens due to those 4 things, but also other things I am not going to touch here for this response is already long and the purpose is to talk about the podcast and not my own thought.
I did not even talk about trauma, PTSD, and intergenerational complex PTSD, this is far more relevant and I like the Volkan model but one can not quickly describe it in a post.

Everyone please take care and find your sense of tempo, time, and rthym. When massacres happen this is the thing that is most disrupted and one can not self soothe it themselves. One needs community for that. But often in our most emotional states our anxious and alienated wish for community is often acting out and obscene even if our motives are good and pure. We are enthusiastic and lost in our feelings and we can not see outside of ourselves for we are aching and hurting and want support for our community.
Take Care!
