Impacted the beaches, but not enough oxygen in the water* and the fishes were sensitive to it and could not breathe. Now of course there is more fish in the sea, but mass death and sensitivity is one of the things environments with animals have to deal with.

*This is tied with water temperature how much oxygen is in the water, some form of chemistry ratio. I am no master at this even if I understand the concept.

Likewise temperature change for water impacts how many calories fishes have to eat, thus you may have the fishes to eat 25 or 50% more to retain their body temperature in a specific range.
