Game of Thrones already proved that once the story moved from the author to the show writers, everything turned to shit.
What's the appeal?
And GRRM is an executive producer. Thus some people think it can be different this time. I also think it can be different this time for we do not have D&D.
I just do not care for the story, even if the story is kind of beautiful in my mind. The story is multiple generations of death drive causing tragedy upon tragedy, it just does not stop … even though there are multiple times where it could have stop, but there is a doubling down for this time it will be different, I will gain, my enemies will lose, my enemies being also my family, and then my family will sue for peace for the alternative is madness.
It happens again and again till we are down to the last remaining two war-fighting dragons. The last two which were capable of war, and had riders (there are 4 more which do not have riders, due to being wild or the size of a housecat.)
Ironically the last two are the people most responsible for the war besides the two people who sat on the Iron Throne (one died due to dragon fire the other poison). And these two asshole romantic man, one 20, the other 50 fight to the death at the same cursed location where it all started before. The cursed location which is Harrenhal and the Gods Eye was also the location of the Sacred Council that was supposed to settle this 30 years before (it did not), like the pact between the first men and the children of the forest was supposed to finish it all at Gods Eye thousands of years before, or the burning of Harrenhal 130 years earlier. It is never finished, this song goes on and on, like the seasons of the wind or two twin brothers fighting for what they think is due to them, until one murders the other, or they bind their twin hands in friendship.
It is a beautiful poetic story, but I am not sure if I want to watch it on TV shrug
