If the cops won't go in to help kids in an active shooter situation, they need to get out of the way and let people who will.

If that means some dead dads in addition to who was already killed, I can almost guarantee that all of those fathers were okay with that if it gave them a chance to save their children, who were covering themselves with the blood of dead classmates in order to more convincingly play dead while the cops sat counting their dicks.
