As I said, I live in a state that already has background checks and waiting periods. My state requires a minimum age of 18 to purchase a rifle and 21 for a handgun. Teens under 18 can get a permit for long gun use for hunting but can’t own the weapon. And all require permits.
But in so many states, there are no such laws. And one of the biggest problem areas are person to person gun sales which often are not regulated at all. Or flea markets. I’ve seen some in Florida and Virginia where you could buy things that amazed me.
These are the loopholes that need to be closed in order for meaningful change to take place.
