Much of social media seems to be captured by the establishment, with a pretty heavy filter of Neoliberal orthodoxy applied economically, and he seems to irk the establishment quite a bit.
I'm not really up on Twitter, except they seem pretty quick to declare differences of opinion (and false statements) as against their TOS. There's a big backlash against free speech that seems driven by people who think they'll be in the driver's seat forever and he's not really under their thumb or cancellable in the way that a normal celebrity or academic is. He has 'F me' money.
