It feels like the people that made the show were not embarrassed by the source material and were actively trying to bring The Killing Floor to life on the screen as best they could. It was lovely to have so many scenes from the book plopped right into the show. I thought it generally worked very well and I am excited to watch the rest of the episodes.

Unfortunately, this just made me all the sadder about what was done to WoT. If Rafe Judkins had set out to intentionally make the worst "adaptation" of WoT that he could, he could hardly have made it worse than what he actually produced. Though I suppose the nature of the Jack Reacher novels makes them much easier to adapt to TV than does WoT.

I have a minor complaint about Reacher: Alan Richson needs to learn to walk correctly. He takes tiny steps like his shoe laces are tied together. I'm surprised how distracting it is.

If he's trying to appear more ponderous, it's not working.

But I agree, this is what happens when the writers and showrunner honor the source material. Perhaps Lee Child being executive producer helped. Unfortunately James Rigney couldn't serve in that capacity for the WOT abortion.

Watch for the Lee Child cameo. Also I loved that Reacher's alias was a 70s Yankee backup second baseman instead of the 50s and earlier he used in the books.
