It's fan fic.

Is it established that the show runners are fans?

Maybe it's hater fic or apathy fic? Paycheck fic?

I only watched the first episode with my wife last night (we had to get up early this morning because the youngest has minor surgery today so just one episode). She was incredibly confused about who everyone was, even though I stopped the show multiple times to explain stuff to her. I was less-than-satisfied (annoyed) with the story changes.

Hollywood has the best moral compass, because it has compassion.
