Nice addition to the JBs. As I'm sure you are aware the interwebs contain many discussions on who is the most badass of the JBs. Consensus is Jack Bauer.
I agree with your premise that adding extra personal motivation detracts from the noble sacrifice. And as much as I also dislike Egwene, I'd like to believe that in her heart of hearts she realized how badly she fucked up all her personal relationships in pursuit of her goals and wanted to atone for that. It's just as likely she didn't but I'd like to believe she did.
