I was an american citizen at the time but I was living in a smaller large city called Champoton in the state of Campeche in Mexico. I arrived at a friends house to eat breakfast and passed a room with a TV on that was tuned to a news channel. I saw the twin towers and they were smoking pretty bad. I was instantly glued to the TV and my friend was really upset that I was choosing the TV over the breakfast she made. But I watched for hours as everything unfolded.

Throughout the next few weeks, it was really disheartening to hear all the people rejoicing.. like literally cheering in the streets about the destruction of the towers and I just chalked it up to ignorance.

It really felt like a weird dream that the country i loved was being attacked in that manner. The people jumping out windows still haunts me.
