I spent my day today at my brother and sister in law’s house in Norwalk, relaxing in their pool. I left around 7:30 pm. I could have made myself something to eat when I got home, but I was lazy so I went through the McDonald’s drive through on I95. I ordered and the girl told me it would be $11.80 and to drive up.
So I pulled out my cash. I didn’t have any change nor a 5 or a 10 so I handed her a 20 and 2 singles so I could get back a 10 plus 20 cents. I see her messing around in her cash drawer, pulling out a 5 and 3 singles. She hands me back my 2 singles plus 8 dollars and 20 cents.
So I said, why did you give me these back? She replies, you gave me too much, the 20 covered it.
I rubbed away the sudden throbbing pain between my eyes and asked, don’t you think I might have known that 20 is more than $11.80? Is it possible I gave you 22 dollars for a reason? That reason being if you entered 22 dollars into your register, it would have told you to give me back $10.20?
She looked at me with a totally blank look in her eyes and said, whatever, I’m sorry.
She had no clue what I was talking about. None. Zero. Not.A.Clue.
My only consolation is that at my age, I will be long dead by the time these idiots are running the world.
