While the parallels aren't identical, there is a lot of insight to be gained from what he's saying. I find more parallels with Weimar Germany, given the more advanced political society of Germany as compared to that of pre-revolutionary Russia.
Honestly, I see bits and pieces from lots of history: the convulsions of Republican Rome in regards to the street violence and heckler's veto and the French Revolution and the extremists eating their own, among others. The thing is, NONE of these instances ended up in what one could term a "good place."
On the other hand, maybe the extremism will give rise to a resurgence of Reagan Republicanism. It happened after the convulsions of the 1960's. That would certainly be a good outcome, yes? At least as compared to what the left has in in mind for us. But, one has to contend with the extreme leftism and cultural poisoning that the partisan media and academia have been inflicting upon our society for the last few decades. So, who knows what will happen? Interesting times I can do without, to be honest.
