There’s no structural apparatus holding anyone down or back. Saying “structural racism” is just a cheap way of saying “black people are still poor so let’s blame white people.” But there’s no apparatus of repression. No one holds a gun to black kids and says “disrespect education” or “you have to go to jail to be a real man.” Or, if someone does, that someone is a black gang member. And no legislation can make a bigot stop being bigoted, but you know what works well? When people earn respect by being better. You can’t legislate a bigot into accepting someone. You can change their mind by achievement.
