As for the history lesson, I was already familiar with Judah of the Maccabees and the Seleucid Empire, thank you very much. The thinking of conspiracy theorists owes at least as much to Illuminatus! as it does to any part of the Bible.
As for knowing the details it does not matter. With conspiracy thinking it is the culture and how other people reinforce your own Delusions. Certain Christian Sects have created a culture (that lasted centuries) where they think they will always be persecuted by “the other.”
