So Disney releases this teaser trailer over 6 months before the movie comes out, just before a competitor's biggest weekend of the year. Coincidence? Probably not.
That said, any thoughts on the trailer? The fanboy blog-o-sphere is blowing up over concern about the title. The Rise of Skywalker? What does that mean? Which Skywalker? Biggest fear - Abrams retcons Rey's backstory to make her someone's secret kid after all. Seemingly that would be enough to trigger a nerd Apocalypse.
What about Luke's voice-over and that line, no one is ever really gone....followed by a very familiar sounding maniacal cackle? Lando is back, Leia is obviously included, Luke with the Force Ghost narration - can anyone make a return?
Mostly I was ecstatic to have something else to think about this weekend other than the fat man's stupid TV series.
They've had their chances, here. They've gone 1 for 4 with the movies since they took over the franchise and I was perfectly happy to sit out Solo until it came out on Redbox. I imagine I'll do likewise with this one unless it gets rave reviews from people I trust.
Lando coming back doesn't excite me because they'll probably just kill him off. At this point it wouldn't surprise me if the payoff of no one ever really being gone is that they're bringing back Jar-Jar.
Your first sentence seems to be suggesting that Endgame is a competitor to Disney instead of a cash cow? Some other movie? Whut?
