She might have left detailed notes on Earth.
But even if they weren't worried, if I remember right, they only told Veers about it to help explain why the Skrull were on Earth, to keep her motivated to hunt them down. It's never shown, in their internal communication, that they care about keeping the tech off Skrull hands, as far as I can remember.
So now that other people have seen Captain Marvel, am I wrong about a major plot hole?

Most MCU spaceships use a jump point FTL drive. They were trying to make one that could go anywhere.
