I live with chronic depression, Much as it may seem counter-intuitive, I find that I particularly enjoy listening to sad songs. Particularly when I am extremely depressed. Or drunk. Which is pretty much the same thing. Anyway, these are my top ten sad songs.
- Tea and Sympathy - Janis Ian
- He Stopped Loving Her Today - George Jones
- Long Long Time - Linda Rondstat
- Hurt - Johnny Cash
- Yesterday - The Beatles
- Seven Spanish Angels - Ray Charles and Willie Nelson
- You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away - The Beatles
- Whiskey Lullabye - Allison Krause and BradPaisley
- I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry - Hank Williams
- Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley
Honorable Mention: Sunday Morning Going Down - Kris Kristofferson/Johnny Cash
What are yours?

Interesting. Somehow I never considered either of those Beatles songs as particularly sad.
