I think I want to try Ancestry now just because it also talks about waves of immigration to the US and has more information that might be interesting in that regard. On the other hand, I really know a shitload about my mother's side of the family because of genealogy work her uncle did and that I was able to confirm through ancestry.com. Hell, I even solved the issue of the weird last name on my maternal grandmother's Swedish side - it was a corruption of a Belgian last name, and we traced back the ancestry to a guy who was I believe a cannon maker (a smith of some sort) who emigrated to Sweden (the rest are "regular" Swedes, except for the people with the Finne last name...I suspect they are Finns).
On my father's side, we suffer from not having access to Austrian Imperial records.
