"Lead us not..." - ne inducas nos
What is so hard about this phrase? It's asking God not to lead us to situations where we know we will fail to live up to His expectations. The temptation itself is not of God. No one implies that anywhere. It is just a prayer that God help us avoid situations where we know we cannot avoid the temptations that Satan has prepared for us. It's asking God to steer the chocoholic on a diet down the street that doesn't have the Godiva store, not implying that he owns the Godiva store.
So I forget a few things...
That being said, I do agree with what you're saying. Only thing I would add is that there is that interesting issue of the French bishops already changing the Pater Noster recently, after a 52 year debate that he was apparently referring to. Might as well change the Creed (again) at this point, I suppose...
