Then you might want to be careful what you're willing to say about it. nossy Send a noteboard - 28/10/2017 09:56:31 AM

That's like saying, I've never met him, but...

View original postBut sorry there is not context where "On many levels, mathematics itself operates as whiteness" is anything but ignorant and the fact that is material for training teachers makes it so much worse. I would hate to think white daughter would taught by a teacher educated in this sort of racial bigotry. Don't really want a teacher who believe may she is just good at math because of her whiteness. That sort thinking leads to pruning for equality.

View original postI'm sorry that white men are responsible for most of the truly of the important scientific and social developments in the last 1000 years. Trying to recreate a reality where that isn't true won't change it. Pretending that is only because Europeans conquered so much of the world ignores the fact that it is why they concurred so much of the world. Modern math was overwhelming developed by white men are most of the rest was white women. The scientific method was developed in Europe. Almost all the significant advances in medicine was whites. Most of the people in world who enjoy personal liberty and a say in their government can traces the principles they use directly back to the Enlightenment.

View original postNever in history has so few people has such a profound and positive impact on human development and that facts so angers some people that it sends them down some dark and twisted roads of logic because they just don't think it is fair. It doesn't, as some people would like to believe, mean that white are superior they just found the formula that made it all keep building but not admitting that it happened because it feels better to believe otherwise is destructive and counterproductive.

View original postThe anti whiteness sickness on the left has gotten so bad that even pointing out the truth is seen as hate speech.

I'm some cases, yes. But based on the sources I saw that want this to be a story, it's not to be outdone by the anti-anti-whiteness grumpery of the right.

Read my other comment. There is ALWAYS deeper context, unless you're well familiar with the source material. Always.

If I had to guesstimate, based on what I've been able to find, it does not sound like she's trying to take anything from you or other whites. It sounds like she's warning teachers that our history has built up a system of teaching math that might not make it as easily accessible to different cultures/races/ESL students. She's NOT ignoring that whites have been responsible for growth in math over the last centuries, or asking you to apologize! She's saying, because of that, you might need to realize that framework means it's not as easily absorbed by others. She's asking for more room on the top step, and that educators be aware of the choices being made for them by politicians.

We all have to make some effort to stop being offended by stuff that's only peripherally about us because it talks about white history. I'm not going to keep having this conversation every week of my life.
