is the stupid North Carolina law that essentially gives you a practice trial. Hardy elected a non-jury trial and then when the judge found him guilty as charged, exercised his right, under that ridiculous NC law, to a second trial by jury. So, basically a mulligan. By the time the second trial was ready to begin he had settled with his victim who wouldn't testify.
I don't expect the NFL to solve societal problems. I do believe they could do a better job with the billions they rake in than simply protecting the shield.
