if I comment that a person of Eurasian descent is exotically attractive, that's a microaggression. If I complement a female coworker on her appearance, that's a microaggression. Yesterday I listened as a white male slightly older than myself commented while publicly speaking on how beautiful he has always found African-American children, and how much he admired how stylishly African American men dressed for church. He was sincere, yet these are microaggressions. When the barista at Starbucks asks me if I want the senior discount for my coffee or the technician at Lenscrafters comments that my new glasses look great with my graying hair, are these not microaggressions?
Or is it all bullshit?
I think you can tell which side I come down upon.
