My point was and is that the NFL owner's, for the most part, don't give a rat's ass about what their players want or believe. If they did they would not be both the only one of the four major professional sports in North America that doesn't guarantee player contracts while at the same time being the most dangerous sport with the shortest average careers. The owners rallied to circle the wagons against Trump's attack on their territory. They were defending their turf. Not the rights of their replaceable gladiators. Anyone who believes otherwise is naïve at best.
That nearly all gave lip service to the player's right to protest while at the same time not one offered even a backup job to the face of these protests is hypocritical beyond belief. However mediocre Kaepernick may be, this is a league with 32 starting quarterbacks and at least 32 backups (some teams carry 3 quarterbacks, some only 2). Are there 70 NFL quarterbacks better than Kaep? Probably not but there are 70 who aren't controversial for anything other than their talent or lack thereof.
