I don't refuse to admit that I'm looking for handicapping. I don't sell it that way because it's not politically advantageous, in much the same way that I don't sell my pro-choice views as being pro-the-right-for-women-to-abort-fetuses, but I'm perfectly willing to admit that's what I support.
I don't have a problem telling a rich white person that, all else being equal, they've had it easier than a poor black person. Again, I try to phrase it differently, but that's certainly my belief.
Whether you frame it one way, or you frame it the other way....it's still the same thing and still as unpalatable as ever. Don't fool yourself into thinking that this fact goes unnoticed. If the method of creating quality is dragging down one side to match the other, there will be resentment, anger, and eventually violence. The reciprocal is also true if you blatantly favor one side to bring it up to the level of the other...that "hand-out" is also seen unfavorably.
