The attempt to just say, "Ok, trans is the new gay, everybody just accept them and let's move on" is obscuring some serious problems. It is also logically inconsistent with the reasoning that was successfully employed by the gay rights movement.
I don't want to keep people from being who they want to be, but I also think that this issue is not analogous to the gay rights movement and anyone trying to conflate it, as virtually everyone who uses the label "LGBT" does, is not being honest with themselves or others.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
