I don't have a magic band-aid. Slight tangent: I get so agitated by the idea that because our parents worked their tails off, we shouldn't try to figure out ways to avoid making that a necessity for our kids. And happily, without both teaching them to want better and calling them snowflakes for it. I'm not worried other people might benefit by accident, if they haven't "earned it."
My dad worked 16hr shifts, as much overtime as possible, weekends, holidays, etc. Do I appreciate that? Hell yes. Would I like to have more memories and photographs of him now that I can't make new ones? Damn skippy.
