Whirlwind (set during the Iranian revolution of 1979) was also interesting. I'm not sure whether I finished Tai Pan - I don't remember a lot of it, so maybe not.
View original postI am currently reading Tai Pan by James Clavell. I've read his Shogun so it seemed like something I would enjoy. So far so good.
Whirlwind (set during the Iranian revolution of 1979) was also interesting. I'm not sure whether I finished Tai Pan - I don't remember a lot of it, so maybe not.
I vaguely recall watching a miniseries adaptation of Noble House that was set in the 80s.
But first I need to finish Tai Pain, Gai Jin, and King Rat before I can get to Noble House.
I am unsure if I want to read Whirlwind. The others are set in East Asia, which is a place I find fascinating. Iran? Not so much for me. But I may feel differently once I am through the other books.
Since it's been ages it seems, what are you reading now?

When I'm not reading bar prep materials, I'm reading Russell's HISTORY OF WESTERN PHILOSOPHY.

Such a provincial attitude to have, but sadly a common one back then

It's a shame. The ERE/Byzantine Empire is criminally underappreciated, even now.
