One of Jordan's HUGE problems is that he wanted to create a consistent world, he took pride in this. Yet he did not have the skill set to actually make this possible. So he gets points for trying, but he actually loses far more points for failing than what he gets for trying compared to a person who was just trying to create a good story and not worry about the ins and outs of the magic system, metaphysics, etc.
