I was in high school when I first found wotmania. May have been '99. It was the older site that I think crashed or something. I wasn't very active on that one.
A few years later, 2001 or so, I was at university. I'd dropped out of high school, so I was kind of a year ahead of my old classmates. I lived in a dorm room, was studying English, and thinking about studying abroad in the UK. I started talking to this guy called 'excalibur'.
I didn't spend too much time in chat. I liked the MB. I could be a bit naive at times. I used to frequently check for the 'note' symbol to see if excal had written to me.
Life happened.
Fast forward to now. I am married to excalibur and have been for 7 1/2 years. We have a 4yo little girl. I'm a stay at home mom now but I did work for a time. I have stood for a local election - in fact, people are voting today. I'm a church warden and I'm on the village parish council. So I keep fairly busy - but don't get paid
We've recently moved into a lovely old house with a larger garden - in kind of a suburb village near Nottingham.
I've recently started reading again - though I did take a long while off.
I think that, while I'm the same person I was back then, I've matured somewhat. I don't see everything so black and white. I'm not as naive. I think I am more content and happy for the most part.
And anyway, we can't go back!
I agree on the black and white part. And speaking for my self, I like it more. It was a rollercoaster of emotions when everything was either good or bad, black or white. Now I find the colors between to be the most interesting, and also it makes it easier so change my mind without feeling I am crossing over to the "dark side" or changing my views completely
Being on the village council sounds awesome, and I mgiht have read too much Agatha Christie, but are there any murders there?
Though I've been told to read JK Rowling's Casual Vacancy. That's how I got onto the parish council - a 'casual vacancy'. Apparently there were murders there
