Wow, the Dante's Inferno demo is awful pretty bad

It's like... the gameplay isn't neccessarily BAD? And the graphics are quite good.
But... it just feels kind of generic. Like, it has the whole Christianity theme pasted over it, but really it's just kinda a God of War clone.
And a lot of stuff is kind of stupid. Like, there are different fountains with different colored water you can use to regain health, mana, "souls" to upgrade with, etc. But... the way you "use" these fountains is by going up to them, hitting the "use" button, and then mashing the O button until Dante smashes the fountain.
And like... you fight Death, and take his scythe? And then your wife goes to hell because apparantly you killed a lot of people in the Crusades? And so you get her cross, which shoots cross-shaped bursts of holy projectiles.
And you can impale enemies on your scythe, and "absolve" or "condemn" them, and in doing so get respective points on the "holy" or "unholy" power scale.
Maybe it's just the Christianity thing that makes this surreal- fighting against naga in a Japanese RPG feels fine, because hey, it's all just part of a religion and culture I don't know details of.
But I've actually taken classes some of the stuff this game is based off of. So, seeing something like "Collect 30 Judas coins to unlock souls!" just sort of makes my teeth ache. Or Virgil being a ghost who can grant magic spells. This isn't a stone-the-blasphemer complaint, mind you, it's more of just a "...wait, what?" attitude.
Some good points: The graphics are excellent. Normal photorealistic stuff, plus some animated stylistic stuff. So far, the upgrade system seems cool (you collect "unholy" points and "holy" points, which unlock new tiers of two entirely seperate ability trees. As far as I can tell, the two tiers aren't mutually exclusive, so you can progress as far as you'd like in each.
The "impale an enemy and throw him lacrosse-style at an enemy" thing is fun.
Overall, though, meh. I won't be buying this
(Oh, and yes, there are breasts. They look like breasts. More information about breasts can be found on the internet)

If it's any comfort, the actual Inferno is pretty shaky too, theologically speaking.

Well, is it really worse than what Indiana Jones did thirty years ago? *NM*
