True, but you have to consider what topic relevance is used for. Aemon Send a noteboard - 02/09/2009 05:22:49 AM
And the answer is that topics are a way for a person to quickly decide whether they want to read a post. Personally, I can't ever see someone deciding that they don't ever want to read about a particular genre, regardless of game. I CAN see that happening, however, with systems. If someone doesn't have a PS3 and doesn't have the money or desire to get one, I can certainly seem them being completely uninterested in games for that system. The topic in that case would help them, while it wouldn't if the topics were genre based.

...not sure if I explained that well, but maybe the point got across anyway. Just to be sure, though, I'm going to try a crazy analogy. :|

Think of it from a car standpoint. Maybe someone prefers Toyota cars, but if Honda came out with a fabulous sedan, they'd probably be interested in spite of their preferences. That said, they probably would NOT be interested in a work truck, regardless of how wonderful it was.

Uh. . .did that help? :P

Genres are, at best, loosely defined. It's much more difficult for someone to say "I don't want x" for genres than it is for systems.

The second option is certainly simpler. - 02/09/2009 04:30:35 AM 819 Views
Because the genre of a game is more relevant to it's content than the system it runs on. - 02/09/2009 04:36:32 AM 689 Views

I see what you're saying, but that's a pretty convoluted way to make an analogy. :p *NM* - 02/09/2009 04:19:26 PM 377 Views
