Played and enjoyed, but it didn't feel like Final Fantasy.

There was no emotional involvement, somehow. It was a well executed and put together game, but it felt like a single player MMO. You might think that just means "regular RPG," but it doesn't. The world felt lonely. Sure, there were cool boss battles, a great progression system, and so on, but I couldn't identify with any of the characters. Plus --and this is an odd complaint of mine that other people don't seem to notice-- the voice acting sounded like it was done in a small, enclosed space. The voices didn't seem to fit the environment at all; they seemed dubbed in, almost. Hard to explain, but I noticed a big difference between X and XII.
Anyway, I enjoyed the game, and don't regret playing it. I even power-leveled to 99 and took down Yiazmat, for that matter (something I don't recommend). Fun to play. . .but not Final Fantasy.
That said, I have great hopes for XIII, which I believe is being made by the same team that made X. It looks very promising.
