There are a lot of great cards that have just never been reprinted. I see Lightning Bolt is only now being put back into the mix of the regular cards, after having been taken out following Fourth Edition. Hymn to Tourach has never been reprinted. Neither has one of my favourite cards for White decks, Serra Avatar (with Pariah in the deck, of course). Sinkhole is considered "too powerful". The list goes on and on.

I think that most people reach a point where they have the cards they're looking for in the right amounts and then they ratchet down how much they buy. When I realized I had about 10 Serra Angels and Sengir Vampires I knew I needed to cut back. I have most of the cards from Ice Age through Mercadian Masques with a fair number of cards from The Dark, Antiquities and even a few Unlimited (and a Black Lotus), but having bought a few of the newer cards I find the cost vs. power is still worse than back in the "old days".
