You can't play online with friends, the function is broken. Also, trying to play open/random games online is also a bit bunk, as it often freezes up the system for 1/2-hour or more (presumably while loading server info). And even if you're willing to sit through that and wait for servers to load, there's no guarantee that anybody will join your game. A friend managed to get one started, two others of us could never find it, and in the end nobody entered his game.
So, can't play with friends, which is the prime-feature IMO.
Have to sit through about a 1/2-hour wait to start a public game, if it starts at all. If it does start, good chance nobody will ever enter it.
Pretty much equals large failure....patch or no patch. Of course one will come out, but the developers/SONY have made no comments to date, nobody is saying anything, and it could be a week or more for a patch. Which is BS, and during which time everybody will switch over to 360. Gamestop is already accepting returns for 360 swap straight-up, no questions asked.

I would slave, to pave the way, to sink your ship of fools.

And this is why smart people buy multiplayer games for the 360 and not the PS3.
