When Milton Bradley took over Avalon Hill, they released Axis & Allies Europe with new units and a board that only covered the European theatre of the war. Then they released Axis & Allies Pacific, which was just the Pacific theatre of the war.
Due to the success of these two games, the base game was re-released with the new units and rules from Europe and Pacific, followed by the following games:
Axis & Allies D-Day
Axis & Allies Battle of the Bulge
Axis & Allies Guadalcanal
Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition (biggest board yet, most pieces yet)
At some point prior to D-Day coming out, the company was bought by Wizards of the Coast, which led to the Axis & Allies miniatures game and the naval miniatures game War at Sea.
All of these games are making money for Wizards of the Coast and all are turn-based.
