If you read on the front page, it gives a breakdown of the types, and says that 'surprisingly', the socializer type is more common among casuals than hardcore ... or something ...
How is that surprising? Just go to WoW, many casual players are playing to play with their friends, my whole guild (an RP guild) was filled with players like that. Those who wanted to do the hardcore raiding, scheduled experience for the most part moved on to raiding guilds.
Hardcore raiders play for the experience, and if they don't get it with their current guild, they move to a new guild, and then another new guild. Friendships come and go in that way of playing all the time, my roommates had that attitude toward the game so I saw it. Hardcore players are social, but out of necessity ...
meanwhile in my old guild, people make gathering dates and go meet each other in real life and we progress slowish-ly and much of the time is just spent chatting or rp-ing, and most of the players are casual.
My roommates always got mad at me 'cause I spent most of my time in game chatting to guildmates and other online friends I had met. I don't play anymore, now, MMO's just aren't my style .
