It's surprisingly well done on the phone - easier on ipad as you can see the whole screen at once but they've done pretty well with shrinking it.
Both games start out in a very similar way with pop ups to teach you what's going on so you won't miss out on any learnin from starting with the second one, but I think I'd say start with the original as that's where the story starts
