Retro Review: Just started playing Assassin's Creed: Revelations beetnemesis Send a noteboard - 03/11/2012 10:03:13 PM
Figured I should beat it before playing 3...

So, here's the thing: Revelations is good, mechanically. Each AC game has gotten more and more polished. The Brotherhood recruiting mechanics, the city-building mechanics, the multiple weapons, the faction quests, and a lot more are all back.

And now they've added... bombs. And a Tower Defense minigame.

So that's the problem. Revelations is, more or less, a carbon copy of Brotherhood. So do you ding it for not being particularly innovative, or do you praise it for being a fun, polished game?

I'm about half of the way through the game, and I'm getting the same feeling that I did with Brotherhood- I don't care about the Renaissance anymore- I want to know about modern times. It's cool seeing Ezio as a badass middle-aged man, but I really want to see what's happening with Desmond and Abstergo.

I got the game for like 10 bucks at a Steam sale, and it's definitely worth that. But mostly I'm just going to power through this so I can play AC3.
I amuse myself.
