Everything you describe sounds great, and I really want to play the game, but things like sidequests (i.e., having things to do that aren't collecting pointless objects for the sake of completing a pointless "pointless objects" bar) and the overall immersion level of the game really matter to me, and are some of the areas where I feel the Assassin's Creed games really failed - in addition to the laughable combat, that is.
So how does Dishonored fare on that front? Because if it gets even that right, I will need to get that game no matter what, lol.

There are some sidequests, but they are all something you have to seek out. If you just want to go through each level, take care of your target, and get out, you can do it without any pointless wandering.
Dishonored: aw yee.

When I get a computer capable of handling today's games, I'll make sure to check it out.
