I guess "indie" has certain connotations to it.

Small, pulling themselves up by their bootstraps, etc.
I mean, these guys did Neverwinter Nights and its expansions. They did Fallout: New Vegas. Barring working for Blizzard or EA, that's about as "mainstream" as you get.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing- they're professionals who have worked in the industry a long time, and know how to deal with big projects. I'm just saying it's a far cry from the idea of a guy working out of his basement, getting his childhood friend to do the art, etc.

To be fair, Obsidian was greatly rushed by the publisher on KOTOR 2 atleast. Don't know about F:NV. *NM*

FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS is certainly superior to FALLOUT 3. Also, not that buggy.

Obsidian's problems have always fallen at their publishers' feet.

Yeah- I'm definitely interested in seeing what happens when they're on their own. *NM*

Yes. If this project stays out from under the heels of bad publisher decisions...

I think it's amusing they call themselves an "independent video game developer"

They are. They're not owned by a publisher. *NM*
