I haven't played BG1 since its inception, and I never did play Tales of the Sword Coast. I was too young when I got that game, and had to cheat to even beat it, as I recall. (I summoned several Drizzts to aid me against Sarevok.) It's rather exciting.
Not just because they raised the XP cap by a level; Durlags Tower was awesome, the closest thing to a true puzzle dungeon in the whole BG series. Bullrushing Durlags just does not work; not only does it result in party wipe after party wipe, but advancing (devancing?) through each floor requires figuring out how.
I REALLY hated the other big expansion in TotSC, but that was because it separated me from the rest of the game for a while, then would not let me return once I left (much like Spellhold and the Underdark in SoA,) so I could sell/stash any of the gear. Also, there was some kind of bug in my original copy that caused the game to crash when I escaped that area if I hit the XP cap before leaving. When I re-purchased it from GOG I just skipped that whole section because it was so frustrating and there was nothing there I actually needed.
Anyway, TotSC is a lot of fun. I do not know if Tutu and the other mods will be compatible with the enhanced version (I tend to doubt it) but if so it is also a lot of fun to play BGI with the BGII engine so rangers can dual wield and characters can use all the kits.
