No, I am not a fan. Firstly because it's a boring game. The story is mediocre at best, the quests are mostly dull and the presentation is practically non-existent. There is no "wow" factor at all. The entire main quest doesn't distinguish itself hardly at all from any of the other sidequests you might pursue. Combat is also excessively simplistic and completely without strategy, etc. The gameplay isn't fun and there's nothing going on, storywise, that makes you overlook that.
Equally unforgivable, though, is that Skyrim is a broken game. A lot of people defend the game's lackluster story and gameplay with the excuse, "it's a sandbox; Skyrim is what you make of it." However, even the mechanics that allow you to make your own story (so to speak) are terrible. You can kill a giant at level one as long as you have a ranged weapon. Put a small stick or slightly uneven terrain piece between you and he'll never get around it. Walk three feet into a puddle and he'll decide you're not worth pursuing. Similar, obvious issues exist with virtually every other part of the game. At every turn you have to go out of your way to avoid trivializing your experience. "Awesome, look how fast making these daggers increases my smithing skill!" "Wait, crap, this is going to make combat meaningless. I'd better stop." This isn't something that's isolated to Skyrim, either; the Elder Scrolls games have been doing this since the beginning. In Morrowind, for example, strength potions would stack. They were also cheap and plentiful. Bring 5-10 along and you could literally one-shot any enemy, including bosses.
Anyway. I know there are people that like the games and preferences differ between individuals, blah blah blah. It just seems to me that people get so enraptured with the Elder Scrolls worlds (and I admit they are fantastic) that they don't realize that everything IN the world is terrible. Gameplay is boring, AI is moronic, story is mediocre, glitches are rampant and most of the mechanics appear to have had zero thought put into them. Challenge, difficulty, balance, consistency. . .nowhere to be seen.
Skyrim is a beautiful tech demo to explore with a mobile camera, not a game to play and enjoy.

I refuse to get started complaining about Elder Scrolls games. I'd be here all day. *NM*
