Reading through the discussion of 3.5 vs. 4.0 convinces me (not that I needed it) if I ever went back to heavily playing it would be with GURPS.
EDIT: Third edition GURPS (which was somehow contemporaneous with 2nd ed. AD&D.) I have not even looked at fourth edition, or much of any RPG since about the time WotC released third edition AD&D (which, based on my cursory exam at the time, bore a suspicious resemblance to third edition GURPS.) If the past trend holds, the release of AD&D 5.0 should mean GURPS is up to sixth edition, a possibility I do not wish to contemplate.

4th Edition has been a commercial failure. 5th Edition wasn't originally due for several years yet.

No, the future of D&D has resided with Pathfinder for a while. *NM*

Dunno about the "Old-School Revival," but Pathfinder is definitely pretty popular

I felt like that was the whole goal of 4E...and I think that goal was accomplished.

The last time I played an AD&D CRPG, it had THAC0.

A fine example of a mechanic that seems lifted whole sale from GURPS 3rd ed.
